Be A Hero - by Ashley Davenport

Ashley is 9 years old and wrote this article for the American Cancer Society:

I'm sure you've heard of the movie Bolt. Well I have because it's my favorite movie. One Easter I got that movie for a car trip somewhere. A few weeks later when we were going on the trip I asked, "Can I see the case of Bolt?" On the back it said: "You don't need super powers to be a hero."
There's many heroes that don't have super powers like firefighters, nurses, doctors, animal rescuers, and you right now, you are here at the American Cancer Society helping people with cancer, earning money.
Back to Bolt. Bolt thought he really was a super dog with super powers. But he wasn't. But he was a hero. He saved Penny from dying in the fire at the end by not really using his super bark, but barking in the vent so the firefighters could hear that they're in the burning building.
Bolt didn't use super powers to save Penny. Like you, you can save someone right now at the American Cancer Society. Save money, live better. Wait, that's Walmart, never mind. Celebrate, remember, fight back!
So I want you to help someone with cancer at the American Cancer Society. SO DO IT!

Ashley, you are a very good writer and you have a tender heart. Keep challenging others to serve. We can all be a hero for someone else.
